This was a restaurant trailer vehicle of the 3 unit "Hargita" DMU, built in 1944. The year of the production on the builder's plate argues it. The standard buffers were equipped later, as can be seen on the picture. Only these 3 trainset of Hargita DMUs weren't equipped with standard buffers.
Another proof is a localization of the windows. The manufacturing number of the restaurant trailer vehicles are from 83951to 83954. The old serial number were Batx 3900...3902. The original interior arrangement of these vehicles was 24 pcs of 2nd class seats as a compartment, a kitchen and a 32 seats in the restaurant compartment.
After the war the damaged vehicles were rebuilt in Dunakeszi. One DMU was renewed for govermental trips. This special DMU had a special trailer vehicle, which was rebuilt from a restaurant car. The # is 58. We know that this car is a part of the survivor Hargita DMU.
Another two DMUs were in service until their withdrawal from service in 16/12/1967. After that, the trailer vehicles were refurbished for service purpose. Possibly, one of them can be seen on these pictures. The interior of the vehicle looks like original, ruins of the kitchen can be recognized (pictures #18, #19).
The bogie type is Ganz-Rónai. This car was in Érd station for a long time. Apart from few graffitis it was in a good condition. In 2000 April the car was moved to Kőbány-Felső railway station, where it became the victim of vandalism in spite of the car was stored in front of the station office...The first picture was made after the arriving.
At that time several old and valuable cars were collected and destroyed there. As you can see on the last picture, that this car was in the scrap yard. The additional story of this car is unknown.
